Yesterday, I learned why the hummingbirds have been so allusive when I try to photograph them - there are two very young juvenile Ruby Throated Hummingbirds feeding in my yard :p I was able to get these shots and wanted to share them. The first shot I believe to be a little bit older female, the second two are the male juvenile - from his size, I believe he is barely out of the nest. The last one, I think is mom - she goes crazy every time I go out. Even she is considerably small.

OK, so I know a lot of you have been doing this for a long time and this may sound like a ridiculous question but did/does anyone ever feel unsafe when you go to shoot a session of someone you do not really know on location when you shoot by yourself?

I have shot mostly for friends and the couple of ones that were not friends that I did not know the people very well, one was someone from work I just got acquainted with the other was a lady from one of my doctors offices. Those two sessions my daughter was with me but that will not be the case down the road.

So how did you feel about security starting out or even now if you do not have a store front studio? I do not like being fearful but it is a concern to safety. Let's just say I could never sell real estate, LOL.

Be kind with your comments please, I know this sounds silly, but let me know what might help to ease my concerns. I hope I am not a lost cause for session with strangers. I love photography and my dream is to one day do this full time.

I just had an initial 2 1/2 hour meeting with this company, and I would like to pick a camera for this application before our next meeting.

Editing Ideas for Dog Photos

My parents' friends had this dog for years, and it recently passed away. The man, in particular, is extremely upset, and he wants to set up a little...

My parents' friends had this dog for years, and it recently passed away. The man, in particular, is extremely upset, and he wants to set up a little corner with photos to remember her. However, these are the photos they have of her, and they are not happy with the eyes. My parents told them they'd give copies to me and see what I could do in PSE.

I have no idea what to do to improve these photos. I feel comfortable in PSE6 for basic photo editing, but I'm to the point in photography where I wouldn't end up with photos like this to start with that need "fixed" instead of just enhanced, so I'm really unsure of what would help here. If anyone has any ideas, I would welcome them. This couple has been through a lot together with my family over the years, and I would love to give them back something nice for a photo corner.

The main thing the man is concerned about is her eyes. Apparently, someone at a photo place sold him a marker to use on print copies to fix red-eye, but it isn't really red eye in the photos here, and it turned the dog's eyes blue. The man upset, because he said her eyes were dark brown.

I give permission to use the photos for editing plays if anyone wants to, but if you do, please, please let me know your process so that I can try to improve some of these photos for them!

Thank-you in advance to anyone who has suggestions!
