Default Photography locations and venues in Phoenix, AZ

I find it difficult to find good outdoor locations for photographing portraits or groups in Phoenix as the city is now quite large but the dry climate provides little natural green foliage for a background for an outdoor portrait or group shot. The few locations that I do know of are the Scottsdale Civic Center-Library grounds and Encanto Park for a green background and Papago Park for a desert background. Would anyone out there like to suggest outdoor locations in the Phoenix area and post them on this forum.

Also, I would be interested in learning if anyone can recommend interesting in door venues for photographing individuals, groups or models. For example there is Boo's Warehouse at 5th Ave just south of of Madison Street. I would think there may be other locations like nightclubs or resorts that for a fee might allow their location to be used during the day for a photo shoot.

Anyone, please post your suggestions for the greater Phoenix, area.

Try the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale at Scottsdale Rd & Indian Bend. It is absolutely beautiful, has an old fashioned feel to it. Lots of places to pose groups, including a lovely gazebo.

Golfcourses are always an excellent place to shoot. The Las Sendas community in Northeast Mesa is wonderful, as is the Scottsdale Mall area (not really a mall, but a large, beautifully landscaped area in the middle of Old Town Scottsdale).

    Default Desert Botanical

Hello, this is my first post. I am partial to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix...I take many shots there all year round. And its centrally located.

I found that butterfield stage route is excellent for desert shots. Lots of different types of desert settings. open valley on one side rocky cliff sides desert brush, cactuses of all types and its only about 30 to 45 min away(depending on where your coming from)

about 20 minutes west of the 347 on the 238 in the town of maricopa. head easton the I-10 until you get to the 347 then take the 347 south to 238 then the 238 west. The entrance is between mile marker 17 and 18. its failry rough road so I reccommend an offroad vehicle or at least one with high ground clearence. If you'd like to collaborate on a shoot out there one day then let me know.

I've fallen in love with the Mesa Arts Center on Main Street. Its the east end of downtown. The architecture offers a lot of different "scenes". Alot of open shade if you hit morning or afternoon.

I think the ASU in Tempe has some good buildings with industrial feel in the art and architecture part of campus...also some cool elevators with great colors.
