!! i did almost the same thing and saw yours as i was about to upload! used a different method tho.

cropped, adjusted brightness, saturation, levels, then duplicated layer. used magic wand and lasso to select background (everything not girls or ball), did a motion blur with 22 pixels (x2), then adjusted opacity, and merged.

tennie - how did you get the painted appearance in yours?

I used Topaz Clean2 to get simpler, cleaner features, duplicated, then used the Impressionist filter, Van Gogh preset. Blended with the copy to cut the effect a bit.

The Impressionist plugin is a free filter for Windows only.

Two hours and 10 minutes to go. for any last entries.

Thanks for the props on the shot. Awesome work. This is a three way tie so far, without diminishing anyone's work, they all have reason to win.

Thanks for playing. I learned so much. I see and saw completely different things, it amazes me just how much we can do to a photograph, and our Art.

Yes, that's the one. And if you like I can point you to some additional presets. The one I used was one of those...Van Gogh.

Default Ok this was a tie.

Everyone wins.... Yeah that was easy.

We all know how hard this is. The work was over the top. I really like the cropping. I shoot with a 70 - 200 and leave plenty of room for the crop, or the ricochet shot.

I really like the cropping in many of the shots.

I like the motion of the background blurs too.

The black and white newspaper type shot was awesome.

The actions and programs / templates were great too for art recreations.

So everyone does win.

Winner is Shirley Dawson and Tennie takes second. I am in the shadow of greatness. You guys did awesome and I can truly say I have not been able to recreate either of your work myself. So big props.

I just bought Topaz and I have thought it a waste of money, but this shows what can be done. Practice, makes perfect and I know I need some one on one with it.
